The new science-fiction/horror film ”Star Leaf” has found itself a fan in the Torrent community.
The acclaimed film is on the top 10 of one of the most popular torrents (Kickass Torrents) site in the world.
“For a small micro-budget feature to be competing like that is pretty impressive. How many 30k indies are torrented like Star Leaf? We’ve had over 30k YouTube hits on the trailer in 2 days and it’s not stopping,” says writer/director Richard Cranor.
“Star Leaf” is one of the top downloads on the file sharing website, alongside big studio films like “Creed” and “Hotel Transylvania 2″.
The film, the brainchild of Cranor, who also co-stars in the film, and former “Earth: The Final Conflict” star Robert Leeshock, has been applauded for its handling of PTSD. In the movie, a group of friends set off to find a secret forest of marijuana hidden deep in the Olympic Mountains. Legend has it the plants are of extra-terrestrial origin, and two ex-Marines among the group hope it will cure their PTSD born from hard combat in Afghanistan.
