Association Assists Consumers and Bridges Communication Gaps

The Canadian Resort Development Association (CRDA), a trade association dedicated to furthering the interests of the resort industry in Canada and throughout the world, has announced the winner of its 2015 Cornerstone Award.

The award was presented to the National Timeshare Owners Association (NTOA), North America’s largest association serving timeshare owners throughout Canada and the United States.  The awards ceremony took place during the Canadian Resort Conference 2015, held Sept. 9 – 10, at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Vancouver, Canada. Presenting the honor was Jon Zwickel, president and CEO of CRDA.

This coveted award recognizes innovators in the vacation ownership industry. Entry is open to any company, Home Owners Association, individual or vacation ownership project. A worthy recipient of the Cornerstone Award is anyone or any company that has seized an opportunity, addressed a need, solved a problem or created a game-changing value proposition that has left a lasting positive impact on the industry, the environment and society, while being an inspiration to other CRDA members – and the NTOA encompasses that.

The NTOA, headed by Gregory Crist, is a nearly 20-year-old association that believes that an educated timeshare owner is a happy timeshare owner.  Through the organization’s education modules, newsletter, advisories and social media platforms, the NTOA serves as an unbiased source of consumer information and assistance for timeshare owners and prospective owners alike.  Its groundbreaking ASK-CRDA Helpline allows all Canadian timeshare owners an opportunity to have their questions and concerns addressed by a knowledgeable team of experts and advisors.

“The NTOA educates and advocates on behalf of nearly 8 million owners in the U.S. and Canada,” said Jon Zwickel. “I am thrilled to present this year’s Cornerstone Award to this organization, representing the very best of the shared ownership industry.”

“One of NTOA’s initiatives that demonstrates a commitment to Canadian timeshare owners is their support of our ASK-CRDA web page and toll-free consumer hotline. We are delighted to announce that in a few short months since it’s launch, NTOA has fielded inquiries from over 100 timeshare owners and has achieved 100% resolution,” Zwickel continued. “Consumers can breathe a bit easier knowing that they are talking to an association that represents their interests, and that’s good for everyone.”

Judging of this award was based on both panel and online voting. Four judges, who represent the Awards Committee, independently select their top-scoring nominee based on the narrative and collateral provided as well as their industry knowledge. Each judge’s score represents 20 percent of the overall score for a nominee, with the remaining 20 percent coming from the online voting process, open to all industry professionals.
