This self-help box is filled with art materials & video art therapy directives to create artwork!

ATLANTA, Georgia — December 16, 2015 — According to the World Health Organization, Stigma and discrimination against patients and families prevent people from seeking mental health care. There are 800,000 suicides recorded worldwide each year and twenty percent of the world’s children and adolescents have mental disorders or problems. However, there are many barriers to overcome when it comes to mental health, even more, to introduce an alternative—Art Therapy Box! This incredible, self-reflecting version of therapy uses art to make a difference. The self-help box is filled with art materials & video art therapy directives (that will be produced upon completion of Kickstarter campaign) to create artwork. Users will gain insight, reflect on themselves and their abilities, and self-actualize. ATB does not intend to replace going to therapy. It’s meant for healthy self-exploration and not to be used as crisis management. It should inspire a spark to look for alternative therapies with a therapist as you get to understand how amazing it is to use the creative process as a treatment tool. Worldwide, there is a massive disproportion in the distribution of mental health resources and to increase the availability of services, the Art Therapy Box wants to create a video intervention that people can do at home to use as a self-exploration tool. It can help reduce mental health stigma, assist with people’s help-seeking behavior, advocate for art therapy interventions and improve people’s overall well-being.

Art Therapy Box would like to produce web videos that will explain how to engage in the creative process; they will demonstrate art activities with the materials included in the box so that people can follow along at home. This will help people learn about art therapy but more importantly, they’re hoping it will become a bridge for help seeking behavior. However, before people can use this incredible, self-help box of art materials, Art Therapy Box needs help. That’s why they launched this Kickstarter campaign. The goal of this project is to raise $1,500 by January 1, 2016. The funds raised will go towards applying to federal grants under a non-profit umbrella. Once they apply to grants, they will purchase pre-production and post-production material to create professional art therapy videos to be used with the art therapy box.

To help bring this innovative self-reflecting Art Therapy Box to life, please visit the Kickstarter campaign or click here. Perks will be delivered by January 2016.

Please keep in mind this is an “all-or-nothing” deal, which means if the campaign does not reach the funding goal then the project cannot move forward. So know that any amount given can make a difference, and this is an incredible opportunity to be a part of a special campaign! Help Art Therapy Box reach the goal by sharing this on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. The more people know about this, the more support the campaign will receive.
