Santosh acquired 36th position in the rally and is readying for his stint in the next edition of Dakar race slated to take place in 2016. Backed by RedBull India and Ceat tyres, the racer claims that he is well prepared for the upcoming Dakar rally. The racer incurred serious injuries during the final stages of the race, but this time, he wants to make sure that he delivers much better performance and is training meticulously to achieve his goal.
Moreover, for this year’s edition, organizers have made notable changes to the race, which is set to start from Buenos Aires and will finish in Rosario. Peru has been given a miss and instead the racers will be defied to face two of the highest passes in Dakar (3200 meters and 4600 meters), proving their mettle.
The rally will see participation from 152 racers from across the world. Like last year, CS Santosh has been allotted 56th number and he will straddle the Dakar journey on a Suzuki 450 Rally motorcycle.
In an exclusive conversation with BikePortal’s correspondent, Prashant Singh, Santosh revealed his plans for the forthcoming rally and briefed about the tough conditions that the racers will have to face at the 2016 Dakar Rally. Santosh said, “I have gone through a serious endurance training to improve my strength levels and physically I am stronger than before. Dakar Rally demands an ultimate fitness level and right now I am in my fittest form. For me, Marc Coma (KTM rider) and Barreda Joan (Honda rider) have always been one of those legends I see as my inspiration. And it is an amazing feeling to compete in the same race with them as a rival. There are many unpredictable things that can happen in a race, the new season includes some of the highest passes and even if you have trained yourself at a high elevation there is no guarantee how things are going to be at the race.”
