The upcoming 2016 election is one which is seen by many as pivotal in the history of the United States and perhaps in the world. The blog has the purpose of providing a variety of biographical materials on each of the current candidates, both Republican and Democrat.
Promotional videos come from sources close to the candidates, or from news sources. They are strictly video and offer a variety of formats and informational content. They range in length and in sophistication. Narrators from TestTube News have created a series of videos which define some of the background of candidates and their positions on various issues. Pro and con responses to each of the videos is presented within the pieces.
Democratic video biographies are available for Hilary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley. Republican videos in the same format “Who Is ……..? have been posted for Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Donald Trump, Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee, Rick Perry, Rand Paul, George Pataki, Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. Some of the candidates have already dropped out of the race, and others are expected to do so as the election season wears on.
Another feature of the website is news about recent speeches and travel for candidates. There are also recent videos on such topics as Dr. Carson’s trip to Jordan, as described on his interview on NBC’s Meet The Press. A speech by Donald Trump at a Raleigh, NC rally on December 4, 2015 in included in total. A clip from Fox News features the Woodhouse brothers debating the politics of terror. Elisabeth Hasselbeck can be seen talking about Democrats, elections, presidential primaries, and Republicans. A video from December 2, 2015 is titled, “Obama Ridicules Republican Candidates | Election 2016”.
In addition to the information about candidates and issues, there is plenty of opportunity for viewers to post comments and discussion threads. At least one viewer poll is available at present, “Who should be our next President!?” with opportunities to pick from one of eight listed candidates. Upon voting, the current percentages are presented for each of the candidate. Since the number of votes at present is very limited (5), the results are likely to change significantly over the next few months.
