Lumen de Lumine is an upcoming album by Lumen, a small amateur chamber choir based in Central London. The rising group of musical innovators has recently launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds and support for its release. All members of the amateur chamber choir come from mixed backgrounds, and this is their second active year in the music industry. However, many of these members have been singing together for much longer than that, and they are aiming to make this upcoming album a difference maker in the industry.
“Our project is about giving new and emerging choral composers a chance to shine.” Said Benjamin Thiele-Long, the Director and Founder of Lumen, while talking about this new project. “We have performed a number of free concerts of both sacred and secular choral music at St John on Bethnal Green for supporters and the local community, as well as sung services across the UK.” He added. According to Benjamin, all the group members are united by the common love of acapella choral music, blending ancient and modern choral polyphony.
The primary inspiration behind the Lumen de Lumine album is the devotion to supporting and promoting new composers. The group has nineteen members in total, and they are all seeking generous support from the community for this Kickstarter campaign to record and produce this album and support the next generation of choral composers. According to the members of Lumen, this brand new album is going to be a game-changing contribution for sacred and spiritual choral music that is all written by emerging and unrecorded composers.
In addition, Lumen has perfectly brought together a group of 12 composers from around the world including the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, and Australia. Moreover, all the music written will be particularly commissioned for this album only and Lumen plans to record this album in May 2018. Furthermore, the group also has plans for a grand celebration upon the completion of this album with a celebratory launch concert in London. This event will be exclusive to those who will back this album on Kickstarter and at the event, all music will be played publicly for the first time.
Following the concert, the album will be released in hard copy and digital platforms including iTunes and Spotify. The group of these aspiring music stars is already getting a phenomenal response from the fans worldwide. Moreover, the group has teamed up with a professional record label Convivium Records to record, produce and distribute the album.
