HOUSTON, TX - Procyrion, Inc., a medical device firm focused on developing a next-generation circulatory support pump for NYHA Class III heart failure patients, today announced that Katherine Cox has been hired to lead the company’s quality assurance efforts. As Senior Director of Quality Assurance, Katherine will set the agenda for quality initiatives, including the development and management of company’s quality system, product and process validation of Procyrion’s Class III medical device Aortix™, and ensuring compliance with FDA regulations during clinical trial operations.

Katherine’s expertise in quality systems will ensure we produce a safe and effective therapy for millions of heart failure patients where drugs are no longer an option. Cox joins Procyrion with 32 years of quality assurance experience in dynamic high-tech manufacturing environments including medical device and manned space flight. Previously, she was director of quality for the peripheral vascular stent products for IDEV Technologies, Inc., which was recently acquired by Abbott Laboratories. She also has worked as senior quality assurance manager in the cardiac devices/plant manufacturing operations for Intermedics, Inc.
Cox received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Louisiana State University and a master of science in engineering management from University of South Florida.
