PEWAUKEE, Wis. – It’s no surprise that Walmart has a strategic plan this holiday season- especially considering these two months encompass 20% of the company’s annual revenue.

One of the main things Walmart is switching up this year is the length of their sales, which they call Rollbacks. In the past, Walmart has been known for random and frequent flash sales throughout the season that can be difficult for shoppers to navigate and remember. This year, they are committed to their brand slogan of “Always Low Prices”, and want to ensure they are the lowest price on merchandise throughout the holiday shopping season.

Chief Merchandising Officer, Steve Bratspies, stated on a call with reporters in October, “We will not be beat on pricing this holiday season. That is our commitment to our customers. That’s the promise of our brand.” Most Rollback sales will last 90 days, and they will continue upholding their price-match guarantee throughout the coming months.

Obviously, one of the only times they will be offering limited time deals and doorbusters, will be during the Black Friday shopping weekend.  Their Black Friday Ad has just been released, and you can see it here: https://www.doorbusters.net/black-friday/walmart/ad/

As usual, they are coming to the table with a very competitive ad, featuring a 40” LED TV for $149 and a 50” LED TV for only $269.  They have Fitbits marked down to $59, the PlayStation 4 Uncharted Bundle for $299, and hundreds of discounts on toys, furniture, home goods and clothing.

Walmart will continue offering free shipping on orders over $50, but customers with orders under the threshold or need their items quickly, can take advantage of the free in-store pick-up option. Customers simply check-in on the Walmart app when they’re on their way to the store. Customer service will be alerted and bring your items to the customer service desk for pick-up. The intent is to greatly reduce the amount of time customers are spending in the store for pick-up

Several Walmart stores will feature a Santa that children can take pictures with, and turn in their Christmas Wish Lists to in an effort to make Walmart a more friendly, fun environment during the hustle and bustle of the season.  In a recent media briefing, Chief Operating Officer, Judith McKenna stated, “We want to bring more fun into the stores.”

Lastly, Walmart is increasing their online Rollbacks by about 15% this holiday season. Normally, the majority of their Rollback sales are in-store only, but as online shopping is increasing year after year, they have decided to cater to customers that shop.
