AUSTIN, Texas – September 9, 2015 - Flautist Kenzie Slottow has just announced her eclectic debut EP set – “Hold It Up to The Sun!” The two EPs will feature Kenzie’s virtuostic flute-playing with elements of beatbox, classical, rock, techno, electronica, and jazz.
Up to 25 layers of flute melodies, rhythms, vocal harmonies, and improvisation form the basis of the songs on the Loops EP. Reminiscent of the minimalist cello stylings of Zoe Keating, the collection astounds the listener with its emotional breadth and abundance of percussive and unusual flute sounds – you’ve never heard the flute like this! The “Hold It Up To The Sun” Dance EP, a move-your-feet, dazzlingly epic compilation, brings to mind the music of hip-hop and dubstep violinist Lindsey Stirling. But Kenzie adds a touch all her own – a contagious effervescence and a mesmerizing control of the instrument that makes both EP’s a necessary addition to any music lover’s collection.
However, before this music can be enjoyed by the masses, Kenzie needs help. That’s why she launched this Kickstarter campaign. The goal of this project is to raise $8,000 by October 7, 2015. The funds raised will go towards recording, mastering, album artwork, CD duplication, distribution, and other fees.
