Acclaimed conductor and music director Kirk Wilke has helped create two of the most impressive orchestral organizations in the Washington, D.C. area of the past two decades: the Capital Chamber Orchestra and the Rappahannock POPS Orchestra. Both orchestras enjoyed the support and adulation of local music lovers during their runs, helping elevate Mr. Wilke and others onto the national music stage. Mr. Wilke is currently in the process of reassembling the Capital Chamber Orchestra so that it can begin performing again in October of 2016.

Kirk Wilke has a storied career as a musician and conductor. In addition to receiving degrees from McGill University, the Eastman School of Music, George Mason University and the Cleveland Institute of Music, Mr. Wilke has also served as a Special Bandsman in the U.S. Army for eleven years. His lifelong dedication to the musical arts has inspired him to reform the Capital Chamber Orchestra in an effort to energize local culture as well as raise awareness of musical programs for young people around the world.

A quarter of all revenue generated by the Capital Chamber Orchestra will be donated to Charitymusic.org, a non-profit organization which loans musical instruments to homeless, at-risk and disadvantaged youths. The Capital Chamber Orchestra performs some of the great symphonies of history with a particularity for American composers. By performing in the culturally rich Washington D.C. area, the CCO hopes to inspire young people to appreciate musical performance and pursue musical education.

The Capital Chamber Orchestra is currently seeking financial support in this charitable and artistic endeavor. The CCO has sponsored a fundraising campaign on Indiegogo to secure $50,000. In return for supporting this project, you can receive perks like yearlong inclusion in performance programs, concert tickets, conducting lessons, season passes, dinner with the conductor, lifetime Honorary Board of Trustee membership, or an opportunity to conduct the orchestra.
