LOS ANGELES, California – November 9, 2015 - In January 2013, Housing and Urban Development performed a point in time survey and discovered 610,042 individuals homeless in a single evening. Some studies claim the homeless numbers to be as high as three million. These outstanding statistics inspired Lisa Kastner to interview America’s homeless. At one point in time, Lisa was a part of that statistic. In 1992, after a sixteen-hour workday she returned home to find her 1899 Victorian house decimated by fire. Only when she traveled by train and passed makeshift transient camps and other homeless areas that she decided to explore this world. Lisa knew from her own experiences that these homeless persons all have a story; stories that she wants to share in video, photographs, and a book entitled, “From Here to Ghost Town.”
Lisa and her husband will travel across the country, beginning with the West Coast to discover and learn about American homelessness. She recently announced her Kickstarter campaign to support this effort. The Kickstarter funding will enable her and her husband to ride the rails along the West Coast stopping along the way to video tape, interview, and photograph homeless persons as well as those volunteers who help them stay alive. With the help of backers they will get to know this ever changing part of America.
To help bring this incredible piece about American homelessness to life, please visit the Kickstarter campaign or click here. Perks will be delivered between July 2016 and August 2016.
Please keep in mind this is an “all-or-nothing” deal, which means if the campaign does not reach the funding goal then the project cannot move forward. Any amount given can make a difference, and this is an incredible opportunity to be a part of a special campaign! Help Lisa Kastner reach the goal by sharing this on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. The more people know about this, the more support the campaign will receive.
