November 5, 2015 – Mentor, Ohio - As their mission statement states, Downs Designs Dreams advocates disability awareness, promotes independence and instills confidence by designing, developing and marketing a special clothing line for special people in order to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities and their families.

Downs Designs Dreams houses two brands: Downs Designs® Jeans, which provide jeans to fit the unique body shape of a person with Down syndrome, and NBZ® Jeans, for men and boys of standard size who are unable to manipulate buttons or zippers due to an injury or disability. Both brands feature jeans with an elastic waist, no button, zipper, or tags, have a mock fly, belt loops and the denim is soft and stretchy.  They instill independence and confidence in all who wear them.

The organization’s official non-profit status will allow them to help more individuals and families with special needs by donating their custom-fit jeans to those in need. Those individuals with motor skill impairment, such as cerebral palsy, MS, Parkinson’s, wounded or disabled veterans or Down syndrome would benefit from their product line.

Karen Bowersox, Executive Director, says, “Seeing the smiles on our customer’s faces when they finally get a pair of jeans that actually fit well, look good and address their physical challenges when getting dressed, has been life changing for me.  I have a granddaughter who was born with Down syndrome and she has been my inspiration.”

Inspired by feedback from the community, Downs Designs Dreams created their “Adopt-A-Jean”® Friday program. Individuals who otherwise may not be able to afford a pair of their special jeans may nominate a family member, loved one or individual to receive a donated pair of Downs Designs® Jeans or NBZ® Jeans, to be donated each Friday.

Individuals may nominate their loved ones here: www.downsdesignsdreams.org/adopt-a-jean

There are many options available for companies, organizations or groups to sponsor a pair of jeans or more. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
