A book about the artistry of El Dia de los Muertos & accepting the passing of a loved one

LOS ANGELES, California – October 29, 2015 - There are plenty of books on Christmas, Easter, or even Halloween to teach children about these holidays. However, there are very few on the tradition of El Dia de los Muertos or The Day of the Dead. It is one of the most culturally interesting and artistically rich holidays in the world. But for some, the idea of celebrating death just may be too much. So, Studio Animatics have introduced, “The Day of the Dead,” a book that is intended to use the holidays of Halloween and The Day of the Dead as a way to understand, accept, and celebrate the passing of loved ones. This amazing tradition takes a very sorrowful time in people’s lives and allows them to think and meditate on the end of life. It helps the young and the old through this process, so this book is intended for kids and adults who are not familiar with The Day of the Dead.

Producer Mel Galloway says, “this book is for kids, and the kids in all of us.”  “I think that there are many of us in the US who are coming around to this magical tradition of the Day of the Dead. It’s a social event that keeps growing here in the states, for it seems to provide some sort of spiritual bridge or connection between us and our departed loved ones. It truly is a magical story.

The story of “The Day of the Dead,” mixes two cultures and two traditions together. In it, a young boy who is only familiar with Halloween is educated as to what The Day of the Dead is and how it can help him accept and process the loss of his pet. The passing of life is a normal part of existence, and many stories for children would like to omit that, rather than educate the young about it. However, it is important that everyone, whether they be children or adults learn how to cope with loss, for no one can be protected from the feeling of grief forever. This book’s story is meant to be a starting point for parents to educate their young about an important tradition, but also introduce the concept of life passing in a way that is not horrific or terrifying, but rather somewhat comforting, altruistic, and respectful. However, before children and their families can enjoy this beautiful book, Studio Animatics needs help. That’s why they launched this Kickstarter campaign. The goal of this project is to raise $25,000 by November 19, 2015. The funds raised will go towards finishing the coloring and then the production of this book

To help bring this book of rich culture to market, please visit the Kickstarter campaign or click here. Perks will be delivered by October 2016.

Please keep in mind this is an “all-or-nothing” deal, which means if the campaign does not reach the funding goal then the project cannot move forward. So know that any amount given can make a difference, and this is an incredible opportunity to be a part of a special campaign! Help Studio Animatics reach the goal by sharing this on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. The more people know about this, the more support the campaign will receive.
