The Hood Canal Events (HCE) family is built around the local community, its history and the legend of the Traveler, located in Union, Washington – “The Gateway to the Olympics and Hood Canal.” The Traveler is a springtime apparition created by the light and shadow effect on the face of Mt. Washington. When you #BeTheTraveler, you’ll embrace the Hood Canal experience searching for the very best in local art, cuisine, recreation, events and the undeniable beauty of the Pacific Northwest (PNW).
Travelers looking for an “escape” from the everyday to discover the magic of the PNW, HCE is the one stop solution. The company provides custom travel, recreation and adventure experiences throughout the Hood Canal region and the Olympic National Forest. Owners, Kerry London Myers and Jeff Nunnemaker have over 15 years experience in the travel and hospitality industry and started this small locally owned business in 2012.
HCE offers a variety of services including event planning, farm to table catering, vacation lodging, recreation, transportation and exclusive venues such as Chateau Schafer – “The Castle on Hood Canal.” Recreational activities include kayaking, hiking, foraging, shellfish harvesting, festivals and larger special events like Traveler Days in the spring. Utilizing a 14-passenger bus custom designed for comfortable travel, all events are handled by local knowledgeable industry professionals to ensure a safe and memorable Hood Canal experience. Apart from offering a view to the natural beauty of the PNW, HCE also provides leisure experiences such as local craft beer/wine/spirits tours, resort activities, golfing, shopping, art and music.
HCE is extremely busy creating unique experiences and wants to increase capabilities to support PNW communities, families and the growing 2016 tourism demands. To gather the funds, the company has started a crowd funding campaign on Indiegogo. Its funding goal is $25,000 and will be utilized for acquiring a new office/shop/kitchen, improving its marketing, streamlining it’s operating/equipment needs, and purchasing a second 14-passenger bus.
A variety of perks and incentives are available for supporters such as, farm to table catering for a group of 10 guests, or a custom Pacific Northwest recreational experience for a contribution of $500 or less. HCE additionally offers a waterfront getaway on Hood Canal for two people by contributing $1,000, and an exclusive waterfront castle venue for $3,000.
The company has urged supporters to – #BeTheTraveler, learn, contribute or simply share the campaign on social media so that HCE can achieve its goal of growing PNW tourism and creating unique events, recreation and experiences for travelers around the world.
