Southwestern Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute (SCAI) is pleased to welcome fellowship trained Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiologist and board certified cardiologist, Lookman Lawal, MD to its physician network. Southwestern Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute is an El Paso (Texas) based cardiovascular and research institute that specializes in the treatment of heart rhythm disorder and cardiovascular diseases.
Dr Lookman Lawal completed his internship and residency at Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Maryland, followed by fellowship training in cardiovascular disease at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio. He then went on to complete another fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Texas Southwestern School Of Medicine (UT Southwestern), Dallas, followed by an optional second year of advanced fellowship training in Electrophysiology, focusing on complex ablation therapies for arrhythmias, also at UT Southwestern, Dallas. He earned his Medical degree from College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.
Dr Lawal’s expertise include complex ablation therapies for arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation (radiofrequency ablation and Cryoablation trained) and ventricular tachycardia, ablation of supraventricular tachycardia, cardiac resynchronization therapy, implantation, programming and troubleshooting of cardiac devices, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (transvenous and subcutaneous ICDs) and implantable loop recorders. Other services provided include Holter monitors, event monitors, tilt table test as well as comprehensive evaluation and management of syncope.
Dr Lawal has extensive interest in medical research. He is the author of several articles that have been published in reputable medical journals. He has also given several presentations, including poster presentations at various medical meetings. He is a member of several professional societies, including the Heart Rhythm Society, American College of Cardiology and American Medical Association. Dr Lawal’s philosophy is to provide every patient with compassionate and personalized care.
